The Arid Club, a private, non-profit dining club has been serving its members since 1934. The club, previously located in such prestigious locations as The Owyhee Hotel and One Capitol Center, is now situated at 1137 West River Street in the Forest River complex. The club specializes in formal dining and provides its members with a quiet, relaxing atmosphere for both business and personal occasions.
Private social clubs originated in 17th century London as men met to forge bonds of friendship over food, drink, and good conversation. Eastern sojourners in the frontier town of Boise, Idaho, already familiar with the pleasures of eastern men’s clubs, formed the Arid Club in 1890. Over the years, the Arid Club established a long tradition of business, social and professional opportunities. In 1984, the Arid Club settled in its present home; a specially built, spacious clubhouse situated on the Boise River, well suited for a social club that now boasts over 440 members.
