Many of you already know me, but for those of you who don’t, I am Tom South and I am your new Kingfish. I have some pretty big shoes to fill, as Doug Pill did a fantastic job.
I am an Idaho Native. I have lived in Boise ever since I graduated from THE University of Idaho in 1980. I have practiced as a CPA for almost 40 years and now have a little LLC, South Litigation Consulting. I mostly specialize in damage calculations for personal injury, wrongful death, etc.
I am married to a wonderful woman named Wanda. We have been married for four years, together for ten years. I have three children. My youngest daughter lives here with one of my granddaughters, my son lives in California with my other two granddaughters, and my oldest daughter lives in Seattle. My oldest two children are CPAs, and as they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
A little board update, we have four new members: Jeff Cliff, Connie Miller, Dan Puga, and Bob Vorbeck. It is an exciting board, they’re very involved and interested in the well-being of the club. We are continuing with Doug Pill’s legacy: “Membership Growth; Membership Utilization; Membership Retention.” Those are crucial to the well-being of this club.
Like I said, we’re encouraging you to use the club. How can you do that?
- Eat here. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but we have really good food!
- Order To-Go.
- Participate in Philanthropy Meals.
- This is a great way to use your minimums, if you don’t feel comfortable coming in to the club. On Saturday, we served 150 meals to the Boise Rescue Mission staff, all purchased by members. Not only can you use your minimum to do this, they are tax deductible.
We have a very talented Membership Director, Cherie Prochaska. If you haven’t met her yet, you need to; she’s doing a great job. If you have ideas for new members, you don’t have to do it by yourself, get Cherie involved. Get in touch with her; she will follow up with them, have lunch with them and give them a tour.
Things are lively, it’s a wild time. COVID is something we have never experienced before. A recent CMAA article said that private club utilization is up because people feel safer at their clubs with people they know. I believe this is true for The Arid Club, as well. Theresa and her staff have done a great job.
Come on out to the club, I’d love to buy you lunch or a drink and get to know you!
