Ern Blackwelder and Sheila Hennessey have been back in Boise for a couple of years now and are ready to establish an Arid Club membership now that Ern’s traveling has slowed down. They have spent time at the club over the years with Sheila’s mother, Alice Hennessey and brother-in-law, Andy Erstad.
Ern is the CEO of Onsite Dental, the leading provider of workplace dental care for large employers. Over the years, Ern has served as CEO of Onsite Health, providing dental and medical services for the National Guard; Division President of Vivra Specialty Partners, a healthcare services firm that managed physician practices and contracting networks in several specialties; COO of Ars Digita, a venture-backed, open source enterprise software firm; and Senior VP at Business Executives for National Security (BENS), where he created partnerships after 9/11 that mobilized businesses with federal, state and local governments to help prevent and respond to catastrophic events, and Assistant to the President at BMC West here in Boise in the early ‘90s, where he had the privilege of working for Arid Club Member Don Hendrickson. Ern started his career as a consultant at Bain & Company, an international strategy consulting firm. Ern holds a BS from UC Berkeley and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He has served on several non-profit boards, including currently with Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County; and he is co-founder of Compass, a leading MBA alumni volunteer organization serving nonprofits in the Washington, DC, Chicago and Philadelphia areas.
Sheila is the Vice President of Higher Talent Executive Search. Locally, she has recruited CEO/Executive Directors for the Idaho Youth Ranch, Make-A-Wish Idaho, and Family Advocates. She began her career in management consulting with Bain & Company, transitioned to corporate communications and public relations with Hill & Knowlton, and served as Executive Director of the Downtown Boise Association. As a professional actress, Sheila has appeared onstage and in national network television programs including “The Wire” and “Homicide: Life on the Street.” She served as associate producer of the documentary “Rediscovering Alexander Hamilton,” which aired nationally on PBS. Sheila holds a BS from Stanford University and an MFA in classical acting from the George Washington University. An active community volunteer, Sheila serves on the board of directors of the Idaho Youth Ranch, the Idaho Commission on the Arts, the Southwest Idaho Regional Council of the Idaho Community Foundation, and the leadership development committee of the Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation.
Ern and Sheila are looking forward to enjoying the camaraderie of other Arid Club members, hosting colleagues/friends and family, and learning more about the community and how they can put their oars in and help!
